You may recall seeing on Instagram my visit to San Juan, Puerto Rico with my youngest sister for an extended weekend. The last time we went to the Caribbean together was in 2004 so a trip was overdue, plus she needed a break from mom/wife life. We purchased a flight deal for $100 round-trip each, so splurging on a hotel wasn’t a big deal. Luckily, I was able to find a great deal on Travelzoo for $65/ night at the Verdanza Hotel in Isla Verde. The price included free parking, welcome drinks, 15% off meals, free WiFi and the hotel was steps away from beach.
We stayed in a Superior King Room that had a refrigerator, coffee maker, daily drinking water and coffee/tea with a partial city view. When leaving the room, we took all valuables, but there was a safe available if needed. The bathroom had a full tub and shower, but was very narrow. For 1-2 people, it works, but if you have kids, it would be too small.
When walking around the hotel to visit the pool, I had fun taking pictures in the garden that included a citronella bush aka natural bug repellent.
As mentioned, our rate included free parking and 15% off restaurant dining. We took advantage of dinner at eighty20 Bistro and had Sunday brunch at the Burger Bar. After driving around through the day, we spent our evenings poolside or in the Jacuzzi. We loved that the hotel had a spray park and I told my sister to keep the hotel in mind when planning a family vacation. The kids would love it.
Other amenities at the Verdanza hotel included:
- Videophone for the hearing impaired (upon request
- Fitness center
- Two restaurants (eighty20 Bistro and Burger Bar)
- Wine and tapas bar
- Deli café
- Tour and travel desk
- Dollar-Car- Rental
- PawsPark for pets
- Dry cleaning service
- Wash-N-Wear coin laundry
- Nanny On Call babysitting services
- Boarding pass station
- Computer room
- Self and valet parking
Our overall stay was pleasant and were very well rested when returning home. The Verdanza hotel is conveniently located by the highway, minutes from San Juan international airport and there were a lot of options for food, gas, restaurants, the pharmacy and a grocery store nearby. If you’re looking for a pet and family-friendly hotel or nice option for a quick getaway, I definitely recommend saying here. Visit the Verdanza hotel on their official site or be social and follow on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
