“Sephora University” Contouring and Highlighting Class Recap

Last Thursday after work, I walked over to Sephora Times Square to attend their Contouring and Highlighting class. It was my first class as a Sephora Beauty Insider and I was nervous and excited

There were four Sephora team members and 12-15 students. Makeup stations were separated into three sections based on the person’s color (pale, mediums and dark). If students didn’t have any foundation on, they used the Pantone Color Iq to match the perfect foundation color (pretty cool).  In addition to showing us how to properly apply concealer, powder for setting and contouring and highlighting on one-half of the “model’s” face, the model did the steps herself. We were also able to apply the same steps on our own.

This class is absolutely FREE if you’re a Beauty Insider at Sephora, which is a free rewards program. I loved the fact that we could be hands-on with applying the makeup. I have taken a MAC class at the Macy’s Downtown Brooklyn and honestly didn’t learn very much. In the Sephora class, team members were also giving us tips while we were testing so that it could be an easy “task” while at home. We were also given a free, reusable bag with samples inside.

The makeup stations were too crowded. I kept going back and forth between stations to look in the mirror and someone even took the brush I was using to apply makeup (kind of gross). Would I take another class at Sephora again? ABSOLUTELY. It is a great beginner’s class and you can never have too much information from a professional. It also was a fun experience. Who knows a girly-girl that doesn’t like playing with makeup?
