One Week in Thailand: The Perfect 7 Day Itinerary

Natural Thai Takeover How We Spent 8 Days in Thailand

It’s been a little less than 10 days since returning and I’m still excited about my girl’s trip to Thailand. In the little time that we spent in the country, we tried our best to do something every day.

If you haven’t had a chance to check highlights from my Instagram, here’s our full itinerary of how we spent 7 days in Thailand for the Natural Thai Takeover.

8 days in Thailand

Thailand Itinerary Day 1 & 2- Exploring Bangkok

After traveling for 24 hours, we checked into the AETAS Lumpini Hotel Bangkok to shower and get lunch at Chandrphen Restaurant. We also checked out Khlong Toei for dinner, nightlife, and fun-filled Karaoke.

Our second full day in Bangkok was more formal as we drove through Chinatown, Little India, the fruit market, and Wat Pho. We also took the train to Bangkok Chatuchak weekend market for some souvenirs and last-minute necessities for our trip to Phuket. Here, I had the BEST coconut ice cream from CocoJJ.

Thailand Itinerary Day 3 – Island Hopping in Phuket

We left dinner at the hotel early to catch our flight to Phuket for a Phi Phi islands boat tour. The tour chosen made stops at Maya Beach, Phi Phi Don, and Khai Nok Island.

Our tour included round-trip transfers, some snacks, unlimited soft drinks, water, lunch, and fruit. We used the Sunday to take fun vacation poses and relax on the beach.

Thailand Itinerary Day 4 – Floating Market, Bridge over River Kwai & War Museum

After checking out, we drove towards Kanchanaburi to visit the floating market, the War Museum, and the Bridge over River Kwai, part of the Thai-Burma Railway (Death Railway) which the Japanese used Allied prisoners of war and Asian prisoners to build. Its purpose was to supply the Japanese forces in Burma, bypassing the sea routes.

Thailand Itinerary Day 5 – Day at Elephants World

One of the most memorable moments of our 7 days in Thailand was our trip to Elephants World. After learning from various groups and research, we picked an elephant sanctuary near the River Kwai Resotel and spent a full day feeding and bathing elephants in a natural setting.

Thailand Itinerary Day 6 – Ayutthaya City Tour

We left our hotel to go to Ayutthaya Historical Park and Wat Chaiwatthanaram. Here we saw ruins from the Burmese invasion including headless (and some body-less) Buddha statues.

Thailand Itinerary Day 7 – Thai School and Bang Pa-In Royal Palace

Our last full day was a trip to a Thai elementary school and the Royal Summer Palace. In the school, we shared school supplies and snacks with the teachers and children. They also did a musical performance for us.

Originally built by King Prasat Tong in 1632, Bang Pa-In Royal Palace served as the Royal Summer Palace for the Thai Kings. There are a lot of Chinese and European-styled statues and buildings as well as beautiful gardens.

Thailand Itinerary Day 8 – Zip Lining in the Rain Forest

Before flying back home, we ended our trip zip-lining with Flight of the Gibbon. Only 4 out of the 6 of us went, but it was the best way to end our vacation. After lunch, we enjoyed a complimentary ride through Khao Kheow Open Safari Park which is also an open zoo.

Hi! Im planning a trip for Thailand too! Im going for 9 days and was afraid i wasnt going to have enough time to do everything i wanted but you proved me wrong because you did it! Originally, i was only going to Kanchanaburi, Ayutthaya and Bangkok because i thought i wouldnt have enough time to hit Chain Mai or the islands. How did you get from Kanchanaburi to Ayutthaya? And where did you do the zipline?

It was through the tour company. They had a bus that took us to each city. The only time we flew to a different city was to Phuket because it was an 8 hr drive away. We went zip lining with Flight of the Gibbon. They arranged transportation to and from Bangkok.

We planned it for over a year and the travel agency had most of our itinerary completed. We just did our own thing on the free days. I just wish we spent a little more time in Phuket and did Chiang Mai. It was a great experience. I hope you do get to visit.

I’m loving this post. Do you suggest going through an airline or through a travel group? I won’t to go to the Philippians with some of my friends but wanted to know the best/safest way to do it.

We purchased our flight separately, but Gate1 has packages with flight included. You would need to put down on the flight + deposit first. I also liked Gate 1 because we didn’t have to worry about our luggage when we changed hotels.
