Travel for Cheap! How to Get a Flight Deal

Travel for Cheap! How to Get a Flight Deal

A lot of people say when it comes to travel, they don’t (or can’t) because it’s so expensive, but that’s not entirely true. After making the choice that traveling is something you want to do (and saving money), try finding a flight deal. Flight deals have been popping up more often these days; some have availability for months, giving you more date options and others are a “get it today for next week”. If you’re interested in traveling cheap, here are a few ways you can get a flight deal.

Twitter

Most if not all flight deals I’ve found were via Twitter. Follow pages designed to share cheap flights and glitch fares like The Flight Deal, Secret Flying or Airfarespot. If you don’t mind your phone going off all day, turn on notifications for these pages so you don’t miss anything.

Facebook

Flight deals are also shared on Facebook in groups that are travel related. In addition to sharing blog posts and photos relevant to travel and things around NYC, I share flight deals on my blog’s Facebook page. Most are from the USA to a specific destination whether it is domestic or international.

Buy in Advanced

Is there a set time that you can go on vacation? Buy flights in advanced. I love Google Flights. Just type in the location and dates for it to give you a price of how much a trip will be. You can also use the Explore Map to narrow down price and location further for flights around the world. There’s even an “I’m feeling lucky” button that randomizes your selection if you’re indecisive.

There is always a chance the fare gets canceled when the airline realizes there’s a mistake. I purchased my first flight deal to Barcelona booked for next January and can’t wait to share the experience.

Great tips! Google Flights is my favorite search tool! I recently wrote a post on my blog about a new feature of Google Flights, Google Destinations.
