I’m ending my summer in NY in the Finger Lakes Wine Country for a travel conference. While here, I’ve been visiting various museums, eating and drinking at local restaurants and bars, and just walking around the downtown area. As exciting as traveling is, it does sometimes change my regular schedule. I typically drink 48-60 ounces of water on a regular day but on vacation, it can be a lot less and it has even caused me to become dehydrated. Luckily I was able to take notice and develop an easy method to drink more water and stay hydrated when traveling. If you’re looking for some easy ways to stay hydrated when traveling, here are some tips that can help.
Save Money and Purchase Bottled Water
Who doesn’t like to save money when traveling? Some hotels provide complimentary bottled water when checking in, but mine did not. Furthermore, purchasing food and drinks at the hotel can add up. Since I’ll be in the area all week, I made a trip to the nearest Target to purchase some bottles of vitaminwater® zero squeezed® and DASANI® from the water section. I have a full-sized refrigerator in my room so I let them get cool for the remainder of the trip.
Limit Alcohol and Sugary Drinks
I know what you’re thinking. As a wine and drink lover, it is hard to visit the Finger Lake Wine Country and NOT drink, but try to limit alcohol and sugary drink consumption when traveling to avoid dehydration. After a fun night having dinner and drinks with other content creators, I spent the rest of the night rehydrating by drinking DASANI while editing photos for social media before bed.
Keep Water in Your Bag
Us women don’t like to be the “bag ladies”, but it is really easy to stay hydrated when traveling by simply keeping a bottle of water in your bag. Despite last week’s heatwave, the weather has been pretty cool in the Finger Lakes, so it is perfect for walking around. While exploring Corning’s Market Street, I made sure to keep my vitaminwater in my bag to drink when I felt thirsty.
I have only a few days left in the Finger Lakes area and drinking the DASANI and vitaminwater has helped with keeping me hydrated through the day. I’ve been drinking so much, I may have to take another trip to Target to get some more.
