I received a complimentary blowout at the Angelo David Salon in exchange for sharing my experience.
Just in time for Valentine’s Day and Fashion Week, I headed to the Angelo David Salon for a blowout on my natural hair. If you’re thinking of visiting, the Angelo David salon is a few blocks away from Grand Central Terminal. It well known for their couture extensions, but provide haircuts, color, straightening, makeup, nail and waxing services. and more.
After protective styling for most of the winter, it was time to switch up hairstyles. I was greeted at the front desk and was immediately impressed by the decor in the waiting area. After sitting down for a few minutes, I was escorted to the shampoo area for a quick hair consultation.
I don’t straighten my hair often because I’m scared of heat damage. In the past, I’ve visited salons based on recommendations and I was nervous. When researching about the Angelo David Salon, I didn’t see anyone with natural hair being treated. I wasn’t sure if the stylists had experience with treating natural hair, but after a conversation during my consultation, I found out they did.
One thing I do appreciate about going to the salon is getting a professional’s insight on the right and wrong things I’m doing with my hair. When shampooing and conditioning, I was asked about the products used on my hair and was given a recommendation to deep condition and trim more often.
The whole drying and straightening process took about two hours total. Before straightening, my hair was dried via the tension method using cool heat and my stylist Dion, used tons of Redken Pillow Proof for a heat protectant to blowdry and flat iron.
We didn’t have time to trim, but I was really pleased with the end results. I loved Dion and the team at the Angelo David salon’s professionalism during my visit. Even though I was his last client, I still received great service. It was just an added plus that I had an event to go to right after my visit. I wore my hair straightened for two weeks before going back to curly without heat damage.
Do you visit the salon often?
